The world of our dreams-- one marked by care and love rather than harm and alienation-- isn't going to be built by saviors, but by good neighbors.
The Barnraisers Project was founded in 2016, initially focused on supporting would-be activists in majority White communities who wanted to move from making strident social media posts to actually working with their neighbors.
We're still passionate about racial justice, of course, but after leading more than a hundred trainings for thousands of activists across the world, we've discovered how important the skills of community building and connection are for a wide variety of efforts for justice, belonging and care. Our model equips average folks (people who’ve never thought of themselves as organizers) with the tools to move their social networks from disconnection and defensiveness to action. We offer a wide variety of trainings (and unlimited, free support to any activist who has gone through our trainings). Our current workBarnraisers officially launched in the fall of 2020 after years of development and testing.
